West Ham off to Dubai for warm weather training
So it wasn't just a Big Sam thing then

http://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-confirm-trip-dubai-12573699

West Ham will be without a game for a fortnight following this weekend’s Premier League match against West Brom at the London Stadium, with the FA Cup fifth round taking preference next weekend, a competition West Ham are no longer involved in.

Their next game will be the trip to Watford on the evening of February 25 at 5.30pm before hosting Chelsea the week after on a Monday night.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has been keen to put his side through their paces in the UAE after lifting them to ninth in the table following three wins in four games, eager not to allow his players to take their foot off the gas.

Next Wednesday, the squad will be put through its paces at the London Stadium for an open training session for 8,500 season ticket holders and junior members as part of a family fun day before heading straight off to Heathrow and on to a seven-hour flight to Dubai.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

What a fucking load of old shit... yeah end of season take them to Majorca if they have deserved it but warm weather training?? Do fuck off... along with Sports Science and resting of players it's a massive load of bollocks in the modern game....

Is it down to pressure from players who got used to this little jolly under Sam?

It's a total waste of money and I think it makes players soft. They're far too pampered as it is, but this is just an unnecessary jolly.

I don't have a problem with this really. I suppose it's a change of environment and they say 'a change is as good as a rest'. Lots of sun. Players enjoy time together. Should come back positive.

But my only issue is that I really can't see how it does any good when you come back and then, for example, play Watford away on a fucking cold Saturday night with the likes of Deeney smashing into you at every opportunity.

Ha ha @ morley

The Hammers' decision to pursue warmer climate comes after Crystal Palace pulled the plug on plans to do the same themselves following Saturday's 4-0 loss at home to rock bottom Sunderland.
Eagles boss Sam Allardyce was due to take advantage of Palace's upcoming fortnight break by taking his squad to the Middle East, but club chairman Steve Parish and the majority shareholders have vetoed the trip.
Parish is concerned about how flying to the other side of the world would be viewed by their supporters, who were left deeply disgruntled by another humiliating home defeat.

Re: West Ham off to Dubai for warm weather training
Rossal... I thought Sulli' has shoved them £800 ... I imagine this trip would cost a bit more than that... I have no problems them having a jolly up at the end of the season but there has been no evidence that a `mid season' break offers nothing... well apart from a nice tan... it's laughable modern day bollocks

Good luck to them, they've been working hard since August, sometimes having to play football twice a week.

Re: West Ham off to Dubai for warm weather training
Rossal, how the fuck can it be 'cost effective'? It doesn't save any money, it's just extra cost to the club. Somewhere around £100,000 I'd guess.
I know that it 's small beer to a Prem club and equates to roughly Andy Carroll's weekly wage, but the club have a lot of low paid employees who could probably do with a bit more wedge. How about saving this money and give some of the staff a bonus of a few £K.
